Tutorial 6: Threadless
Threadless
The focus of this community is that boys and girls from all over the place can submit their t-shirt designs and other people can vote/ rate them. If the public vote is high enough then the t-shirts are then created.
The services provided:
-send in t-shirt designs
-t-shirts rated
-t-shirts created/sold if they are rated high enough
This site is very interactive with new t-shirt designs being added each day as well as people rating them.
People can contribute to this website by either emailing their designs to threadless using their basic template or by taking photos and sending them in.
People contribute to this community because:
-they can see different t-shirt designs
-rate t-shirt designs
-individuals want to be noticed for their work
-support friends and family
-interested in fashion design

This is well done. I usually dislike busy chaos on shirts...now I know why...yours has a source. The wing disintegrating into space is awesome.

The potential ethical issue that may arise in the threadless community is if someone designs a t-shirt that is very similar to someone elses t-shirt and gets credit for it.
The benefits of this online community over a traditional notion of community is that girls and guys all over the world can submit their t-shirt designs. It is a way of putting t-shirt designs out there even if you do live in a small isolated area where you couldn't normally present your t-shirt designs. Because it is online they also have the ability to connect with people of similar interest as the designer may not know anyone within their community who has similar taste.
This community lacks interaction with who the buyers are of their t-shirt designs. The designer can get feedback about their t-shirts but it isn't face to face like it would be in a traditional community.

Tutorial 5: Video Production Part 2
When we went to plan our video around over coming adversity we had to utilise a script. Script is the basis for everything that is heard and seen on the screen. A good script should include the following: moods and expressions, facial expressions, movement, interaction with another character, background music and setting and camera angles and types of shots. By following the guide of what a good script should look like this helped aid our video Spooning Around because we knew what we had to include.
Storyboarding also aided our short video Spooning Around. Storyboards are a series of illustrations displayed in sequence for the purpose of previsualising the live-action video. Before we started filming we created a storyboard with 9 basic scenes we wanted to shoot to facilitate our purpose of the video.

Tutorial 4: Video Production Part 1
As you can see I posted a short video called Spooning around. This was created by Rachel Rachel and myself as part of our tutorial in Participation in Occupation. Our video had to be about overcoming adversity. By watching the video I hope you can gather what the problem was and how it was solved =D .
We then loaded our video onto Youtube's service.
Youtube allows anyone to post some or all of their wonderful and creative videos they have made. These videos are free to watch and post on the internet. Youtube is a great way for you to search something if you want to see how it's done, there are a variety of topics and you can find almost everything on there. There are simple and more complex videos and information depending on the person's prior knowledge.
Youtube can also allow the public to write comments to let the creator of the video know what they think about it.

Tutorial 7: Assistive Technology
Assistive Technology is "any item, piece of equipment or product system whether acquired commercially off the shelf, modified, or customized that is used to increase or improve functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities" ( Cook and Hussey, 2000, p.5)

One piece of equipment introduced to us in the assistive technology tutorial was a big red switch. This big red switch is easy-to-see, easy-to-activate switch with a 127mm diameter surface. This has a Activating Pressure of 85gms. This type of switch costs $101.25 (including GST). This big red switch is used to activate:
-electrical appliances via an environmental control unit
-battery operated adapted toys and games
-a computer through a switch interface
-AAC device through a switch port.
The large colourful surface makes this switch ideal for students with visual, cognitive or physical requirements. It provides a tactile and audible feedback to the user. The big red switch is designed for activation no matter where it is pressed. Because these switches are so big it is a lot easier for someone with poor fine motor skills to use than some of the normal switches.

Tutorial 3: Blogging Part 1

2.publish your thoughts- a place to collect and share things that you find interesting or to inform others

Tutorial 2: Digital Camera use and applications
The pluses and minuses of digital camera technology in relation to more traditional film based cameras.
Traditional film- Plus: better quality, durable, element of suprise.
Minus: longer to process, have to pay for photos that you do not want or like.
Digital camera- Plus: get to choose which photos you want, can edit the photos before you print, photos can go on your computer.
Minus: no element of suprise
Some of the ways digital images can be stored transferred and manipulated using other communication technology are: fax, scanner, video camera, cellphone, web cam.
The ethical issues that may arise with image capturing devices are: no consent to take the photo of the person and then then public can access it. This is not right especially if it affects the person who is captured.
Digital images could/ are being used in occupational therapy practice. For example digital images are sometimes used to show the client how they transfer and to see what their technique is like. They can be used on cards of how to sequence a task or of a specific technique. Digital images can even be used in documentation to give a better understanding to other professionals reading the client notes or to give a over all picture within a funding/ modification application.
Summary of Services offered by Flikr: Flikr blog, upload photos or videos, connect with friends, create a profile.
Another photo storage website which offers a service similar to Flikr is bebo.
Digital cameras can either have digital or optical zoom. Optical zoom is better quality especially when enlarging an image and digital zoom is a low quality image as the zoom just crops the image to a smaller size, therefore the image is quite blurry when enlarging.
Pixels are made up of small squares, through a digital photograph they look smooth and continuous just like a regular photograph.A mega pixel is 1million pixels in other words 1million small squares.

Information Technology is very common within our society. More people are learning about the technology each day.
I feel comfortable and competent using the telephone, mobile phone, TV, ipod, digital camera and computer (email, search engine, downloads, social networking).
Within my Fieldwork experience mobile phone, email, websites, search engine, photocopiers and voice recorders were used in OT practice. These pieces of IT defintley helped the OT team to have faster and clearer communication within there practice.
The negative ethical implications of capturing, sharing and transferring information via IT is stalking, mis-used information and in-accurate information.
The positive ethical implications of capturing, sharing and transferring information via IT is communication between friends and fast response.
